I am writing to tell you about my family’s excellent experience at Village Pediatrics. As a new mother, I interviewed every pediatric practice in the Chapel Hill area. I met many good doctors, but when I visited Village Pediatrics I knew that this was the perfect place for my family.
At our first meeting, it took me a few minutes to figure out what was different about Village Pediatrics. Similar to other pediatric offices, Dr. Gush, Kristen and Maria displayed a thorough knowledge of pediatrics. The difference was how welcomed and unrushed I felt. The entire staff was interested in me as a person, not just another nameless patient. In fact, they encouraged me to tell them about my husband, our soon-to-be- born son, Zeke, and me.
My positive first impression has been confirmed. After discharge from the hospital, Zeke had difficulties breastleeding. Dr. Gush, Kristen and Maria took turns calling me everyday to check on us. It was obvious that they genuinely cared. One afternoon things reached the breaking point. I was able to call Village Pediatrics at 4pm, speak with a person (not “press 1 for ), and arrange for my husband, Zeke and Ito see Dr. Gush at 8pm that evening. Meeting with her, I felt like I was talking to a trusted friend (who happened to be a pediatrician). Dr. Gush provided information in language we could understand. She listened to our concerns, expressed her professional opinion (that’s why she’s the doctor) and involved us in the decision making. Dr. Gush gave us the time we needed for us as a team to develop a plan that has worked well.
I highly recommend Village Pediatrics. It is Zeke’s medical home. It is a place where we receive excellent medical care, and also where we are welcomed, well-known, and respected.
