Although I’m technically a native to Durham, NC, I consider Chapel Hill to be my second home! I completed 10 yrs of education at UNC- Chapel Hill, including medical school, a Master’s degree in Public Health, Pediatric residency, and an additional year as chief resident.
Throughout that long road, my husband David somehow managed to be my constant support while also completing his own doctoral studies! We’re now settled down in Durham with 2 kids, 2 brand new puppies, and a house full of hilarious quotes. According to our daughters (ages 2 and 4), “mommy’s a doctor” and she “fixes boo-boos with Princess Tiana band-aids.”
I suppose that’s a pretty accurate description. However, when I have on my real doctor hat, my practices are a bit more comprehensive. I believe in the importance of accommodating the whole being of a patient while still addressing their precise medical needs. During the course of my MPH studies, I developed a particular interest in adolescent health issues. Now, I’m fortunate to be the medical director of Wake Teen – a nonprofit agency in Raleigh that provides medical, mental health, nutrition, and community outreach services to adolescents.
Whether newly born or off to college, I truly believe our youth have so much to teach us! There is something very refreshing about the way Village Pediatrics operates, and I’m delighted to join a group of professionals who treat each other and their patients like family!
