Kim Gush MD PhD
Dr. Kim Gush moved to Chapel Hill with her family in 1995 to attend UNC School of Medicine where she was accepted into the MD/PhD program. In 2000, she completed the first 2 years of medical school and earned her PhD after completing a dissertation on hematopoetic stem cell development and gene therapy. Dr Gush received several awards during medical and graduate school including the prestigious MacNider award and several merit awards. She finished medical school in 2002. Dr Gush completed her pediatric residency at UNC Children’s Hospital in 2005 and received a Kaiser Permanente Teaching Award. Upon completion she worked in the outpatient pediatric gastroenterology clinic at UNC until she opened Village Pediatrics in March of 2006.
“I had long dreamed of opening my own practice and offering something a little different from what I, my family, and friends were experiencing when interacting within the medical establishment. Specifically, I wanted to offer better medical service. The idea that a patient could be greeted with a smile, listened to for more than 90 seconds, and spoken to with words of respect, comfort, and encouragement seems a novel concept in today’s medical environment. But I want to establish this as the norm instead of the exception. This is what I hope to provide at Village Pediatrics.”
